Thompson Island 4K Trail Run Breaks Fundraising Record

The Thompson Island 4K Trail Run set a new record this year for their youth program, raising $340,000 to help thousands of Boston Public School Students through the Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center. The two day race featured 75 corporate sponsors who made donations and 2,000 runners donating and raising money for the Thompson Island’s youth programs. We were proud to have our team participate in the race with our friends at TeamLogicIT to raise awareness and support the great program run by Thompson Island.

“Today, the Thompson Island 4K Trail Run has the reputation of being one the most unique runs in the Boston area. Companies can network, engage in friendly competition against other companies and build their team culture, while supporting an important program for Boston youth.” – Arthur Pearson, Thompson Island President and CEO

Tom Niles, a Thompson Island supporter, will match individual donations for this year’s race. Donations are still coming in, totalling about $79,000 right now and are expected to be close to $100,000.

Our Founder, Thomas Stirling

The race course is on Thompson Island, a 204 acre island featuring meadows and beaches. The race encourages networking and fun competition between friends, teams, and companies. Participants received a memorable race t-shirt, a  BBQ dinner, and free beer.

The Thompson Island programs, which are free for Boston’s students, families, and schools, use experiential education, integrate academics and social-emotional learning, and link in-school and out-of-school partners.
